Over the weekend I had a little recharge with my first ever group photo walk in Boston. I signed up in May and thought it would be a great opportunity to get out to explore Boston. The walk was created by Scott Kelby, the Photoshop guru and photographer. The photo walk from Boston harbor to the North End was led by Natick local Brad Moore, photographer extraordinaire. We started out at 9am at the ICA where pop artists Shepard Fairey has a sensational display of his sweet work. We slowly made our way through Boston and finally ended up at the Boston Beer Works at 12:30ish for some food and drinks. Here's a few images from the world wide photo walk that I love.

I stumbled on this little gem while editing a recent wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill. A bit darkish but, interesting to me. Sorta feels like an older painting. Anyways, I hope you like it.

I had the distinct pleasure of capturing the wedding of Tracy and Jeff at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Massachusetts. The day was really warm and beautiful. I started the day at the Quincy Marriott to get some getting ready shots. I loved the interactions before the ceremony. Such fun and excitement! The ceremony followed at Granite Links and it was full of passion. A great cocktail hour was next and then the amazingly fun reception. Wow! What a fun group that loved to dance. I was also astounded by the incredible view from Granite Links at night. A view I've never seen before. I may have to revisit it for some personal shots of Boston. Here's some of the shots that moved me from their wedding day. Oh and where is everyone going on their honeymoon this year? Hawaii!!!

I recently shot the sensational wedding of Carlyn and Brittany at the Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Massachusetts.  We started out at the Spring  Hill Suites Marriott in Devens to document the preparations. This wedding I brought along the wickedly cool Stacy Doyle to second with me. She rocks it with her intimate PJ style. Once the brides were ready we headed over to Gibbet Hill for the ceremony and reception. Gibbet Hill is a great place to have a wedding. The grounds are superb, the staff is fantastic, and the reception barn is so cool with it's post and beam construction. The ceremony was had under blue skies with patchy clouds. This was a really great backdrop for an outdoor ceremony which was very touching and ever so powerful. The reception followed shortly after. Here's some of my favorite images from their wedding day.

Over last weekend I shot an engagement session with Sarah and Jermaine. I met them at a wedding that I shot last year for Sarah and Donn at the Bradford Country Club in Bradford, Massachusetts. A wedding that was simply full of love and amazing fun! Sarah was a bridesmaid and Jermaine, well he was pure dancing entertainment. Sarah wanted the urban look for her engagement photos so she suggested the Intercontinental Boston in downtown Boston. We meet in the afternoon on a great sunny and fairly warm day. I brought out my sweet AlienBee ring flash for a little fun and sexiness. We moved around the waterfront area and captured several different scenes with some wildly different results. Here's a few images that I like.

I shot an engagement session with Brittany and Carlyn at Walden Pond Reservation in Concord, Massachusetts. I'll be covering their wedding at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Massachusetts later in the month of May. I've always found a special affinity to same sex weddings. I'm so glad that I live in state that understands and provides a means for people in love to be married, regardless of their gender. Personally, I've found a great amount of appreciation for people who break through the typical stereotypes of our society. Needless to say, I am very honored to shoot Brittany and Carlyn's wedding day. Here's a few of the images from their engagement session.

I saw a tweet this week on www.twitter.com via tweetdeck about TMZ's Wacked Wedding Contest. They were looking for pictures that depicted the crazy antics at a wedding reception. Needless to say, I have my fair share of crazy moments at a wedding reception. I submitted a few pics from the wedding day but, one of the ones that stands out to me is the crazy bridesmaid at Sonia and Mark's wedding. I guess a little bit of booze and a shovel can make people do some wacky stuff. ;)

How do you ring in your 200th post? With the Bad Ass Maidens of Metal, Jaded!

I was introduced to Hillary the drummer of Jaded from a co-worker at the MathWorks. He asked me last Friday if I've ever shot band pictures. I answered, well no not yet but, I'm game. What's the gig? He said that his cousin was in a metal band and was performing at the Hard Rock in Boston on Saturday night. I paused.... He said, they dress up in leather and chains. I replied, yeah, sounds like fun! Hillary and I connected squared away the 411 and I arrived Saturday night with some ambition and excitement. I was introduced to the rest of the band and I immediately scoped a location to shoot a group shot. I had like 5 minutes to pick my spot and make it work. I shot the group portrait and decided to stay to catch the show. They were opening up for LA Guns, a 80's rock band as in a big hair band. I was stoked to see the ladies really knew how to bring the power of metal. Oh and did they! I shot some images while they were performing with the my rockin 5d. I used no flash and relied on the trusty 6400iso for all my shoots. I even captured a quick clip of video with the 5d and posted it to youtube. Here's some of my favorite shots. Additionally, we setup a time to shoot next week to have a bit more time for a group portrait that will bring my creativity together with some seriously smokin performers. Stay tuned for the results!

Also, I shot some images of LA Guns. This was the first time I've seen them and though I remember them from high school, I can't really say I knew a hell of a lot about them but, seriously, these guys rocked! I'll post their images in the next week or so.

Today was the 2nd time I shot the Boston Marathon from Natick, Massachusetts. The marathon experience in Natick is really exciting, emotional, and quite frankly, an life changing event. This year I woke up at 7am, packed my gear in my Smart Car, drove to Natick center, and started out my day with some Dunks! I walked around Natick center shooting images of the setup of the water stations, spectator lines, and support personnel. The first racers blazed through Natick shortly before 10am. The wheel chairs were first which to me is a one of the best highlights of the day. To even race in a wheel chair is a feat in itself. It only proves that people can overcome many things and succeed. The elite woman's racers were next followed by the elite men's racers. Both of these gr0ups are harder to shoot due to the enormous support vehicles surrounding them but, I managed to capture some images that I enjoy. The rest of the runners followed. I captured the Hoyt's as they came through town and a few runners that had partial leg prosthetic. Amazing and inspiring!
